Do you want to build large enrollment courses, but need help designing courses that will fill seats? Is your university interested in scaleable courses, and are you under pressure to create them?
Since 2006 I have been building large-enrollment courses — at least one hundred students per semester, often many more — at universities across the country. As online education grew, I expanded into designing courses for online students as well.
200 students per semester in person. 750 online. Courses I've designed typically account for 10% of my department's total enrollments each semester.
Those numbers didn't happen by accident. My academic specialty, Classics, sits in the humanities — where courses are usually electives or general studies requirements, and where enrollments are increasingly needed to justify continued financial support. I learned early how to design courses that students actually want to take.
Higher education, especially at public universities, is under growing pressure to develop scalable large-enrollment courses. But many faculty have never been trained to build them, or have inherited courses that need updating to retain student interest. That's where I come in.
I offer experienced strategic advice on designing courses that attract and keep students — whether you're building something new or rethinking something existing. My focus is on course strategy and design, not instructional design or course building; I'll help you think it through, not do it for you.
